Manager Ben Chenery is desperate to restore some festive cheer at Bury Town as they aim to halt a winless run in a Boxing Day cracker against Dereham Town (1pm).

The Blues head into the encounter on the back of a four-game winless sequence in all competitions, that includes three defeats, following a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Thamesmead Town on Saturday.

However, with eight senior players including Tevan Allen, Noel Aitkins, Sam Reed, Bradley Barber, Justin Miller, Phil Weavers and Craig Nurse all missing last weekend, Chenery is far from panicking as he hailed the endeavours of the younger players.

“We are in a tough run but any team would struggle with the absentees we have,” he said.

“The young lads have done me proud, hopefully we will come out of this run soon, I’m not concerned just yet.

“We’ll be at home, hopefully in front of a big crowd and we’ll be doing all we can to get back on track.”
