BURY Town hope to announce their fourth signing of the summer within the next few days.
The Blues have already added midfielders John Kennedy, Stephen Smith and Danny Cunningham to their ranks, but expect to have one more by the time pre-season training kicks off on Thursday.
Director of football Trevor Collins, who was in Brighton this week to receive the Ryman League Premier Division team of the year award with chairman Russell Ward and director Phil Smailes, confirmed: “We are getting closer to making another signing.”
Meanwhile, the Ram Meadow-based outfit are preparing to return to training on Thursday.
As well as seeing the squad from last season, there will a number of trialists looking to impress Wilkins and his coaching staff.
“There’s a few lads coming down – they are unknown quantities,” said the Blues’ boss. “You have nothing to lose by having a good look at them and if they are better than what we have got we will probably have to adjust our squad slightly.”
Speaking about Bury’s team of the season award, Wilkins added: “It’s testament to the players, the management team and people behind the scenes like Trevor (Collins) and Russell (Ward).”
n Needham Market were presented with two accolades at the end-of-season awards bash for the Ryman League. The Marketmen won the Division One North team of the season prize, as well as the fair play award.
