Bury Town manager Ben Chenery hopes to solve his side’s goalscoring problems — for a short while at least — with a loan move for a striker from the Football League.
Southend United’s Jason Williams, who has made two appearances for the Shrimpers’ first-team, was in the stands with manager Phil Brown at Thurrock’s Ship Lane ground to watch the Blues crash out of the FA Cup at the hands of Romford on Sunday.
However, a move for the 18-year-old could be put on hold with Sky Bet League Two outfit Southend awaiting news on a back problem for main striker Barry Corr.
If Corr is not fit, Williams could be considered for Southend’s squad at Cheltenham on Tuesday.
Bury are desperate for more firepower having managed to net just four times in their opening 11 matches of the season.
