BURY Town suffered defeat in their opening home match of the Ryman League Premier Division season at Ram Meadow last night.
The Blues — who looked toothless in attack — succumbed to a 70th-minute strike from Jamie Busby.
Meanwhile, Andrew Plummer saved a penalty as Needham Market drew 1-1 at Heybridge Swifts in Ryman One North. Ollie Fenn had given the Marketmen the lead.
In the Ridgeons League, Walsham-le-Willows are still searching for their first point of the season after slumping to a 4-3 defeat at Kirkley & Pakefield.
Craig Skipp gave Willows the lead, but Kirkley scored twice to go in front themselves, only for James Tatham to peg them back.
However, by the time Trevor Newman headed home Walsham’s third, Kirkley had already sewn the match up with two further strikes.
Mildenhall Town were held to a 1-1 draw by Hadleigh United. Owen Paynter netted for Town.
