BURY Town bounced back to winning ways in the Ryman League Premier Division after claiming a comfortable 2-0 victory over Canvey Island at Ram Meadow on Saturday.

First half goals from Danny Cunningham in the ninth minute and Craig Nurse nine minutes before the interval were enough to secure all three points for the Blues.

Bury are back in league action tomorrow night as they travel to 14th place Wingate & Finchley (7.45pm).

Despite going three games without a win in Ryman League Division One North Needham Market remain top of the table after also getting back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory away to strugglers Ware.

Angelo Harrop broke the deadlock with a deflected free kick after 11 minutes before Danny Thrower added the second just 15 minutes later to claim the points.

In the rugby, Bury’s stuttering form continued as a 37-15 defeat away to second placed Colchester on Saturday stretched their winless run in the London One North league to two matches.

Thurston enjoyed a more successful result, becoming the last remaining unbeaten side in the Greene King IPA Eastern Counties Two league with a hard fought 18-13 victory at home to table toppers Hadleigh to make it eight consecutive league wins for the hosts.
