Bury Town have signed attacking midfielder Ollie Canfer, who left the Blues’ fierce rivals AFC Sudbury only last week.

Canfer was the unnamed player who had agreed terms with Bury, as revealed by the Free Press in yesterday’s story, and he will go straight into Ben Chenery’s squad to face Cambridgeshire neighbours Soham Town Rangers at Ram Meadow in tonight’s Ryman League Division One North fixture (7.45pm).

Canfer, who had four seasons at Hadleigh United, scoring 18 goals when the Brettsiders won the Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division title in 2013-14, was at Brightlingsea Regent last season, has made 14 appearances for AFC Sudbury since his summer switch, seven of them as a substitute, without scoring for the Yellows.

He was said to have left AFC last week to seek regular first-team football after losing his place to former Bury Town player Ross Baily, who made the switch between the rival clubs in the summer along with Liam Wales.
