Manager Rick Andrews is confident his Stowmarket Town side will be more competitive in their new Thurlow Nunn League First Division campaign.

The Gold and Blacks’ boss begins his first full term at the club also hoping a raft of additions can gel quickly to help Stow improve after winning just five games last season.

“I believe we’ll be more competitive this season, but obviously with the big turnaround in players the first couple of weeks will be about gelling the new boys,” he said.

Among the arrivals are goalkeeper David Goldie, former Hadleigh United winger Ben Licence and ex-Leiston striker Paris Tuwizana.

Midfielder Camillo Douglas has also signed — a player Andrews believes is one of real quality.

Stow retained the John Thorndyke Trophy on Tuesday evening with a 2-1 win at Old Newton United and will begin their season with the visit of Great Yarmouth Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).
