The 47-year-old stepped down as boss following 10 months at the helm on Friday – citing work commitments as the main reason behind his decision.

"It was an extremely tough decision to make," said Pinkowski. "I have a passion for Mildenhall Town FC, but the two most important things in my life are work and my family.

"This is a great opportunity for Richard Skelly to come in and really take the club forward.

"He is young, knows his football inside out and has a lot of bright ideas. His appointment can only be positive for the club."

The former Lakenheath chief is expected to continue in some capacity at the club – as a director of football.

"I will still be involved with the club, although the position is unclear at the moment. I need to sit down with chairman Martin Tuck and vice chairman Bill Flynn to discuss matters. What is certain is that my new role will give me greater flexibility."

Pinkowski thanked the club's fans for their welcome support during his managerial spell.
