Cricket: Spinners prove undoing as Bury slip to away loss
Gibbs Denley East Anglian Premier League Swardeston v Bury St Edmunds Swardeston won by two wickets
BURY St Edmunds played on a well worn pitch ideal for the home side's spin attack.
Bury batted first and were in a good position at lunch with Tom Huggins and Chris Warn doing well. Warn made 31 and Huggins 72 before a mix up saw him run out.
The spin of George Walker (ex Leicestershire) and Zimbabwe international Richard Simms proved difficult to counter as the Bury tail failed to build on the early basis and were all out for 181.
Swardeston were in control at 94-1, but there followed a spirited and determined fight back as wickets fell at regular intervals.
Simon Rees bowled well, returning figures of 4-47, this included Richard Simms for 73 and Tom Rash took 2-53 on a pitch with little help to them.
Despite a collapse, Swardeston won by two wickets.
