OLD Buckenham Hall pupil Hugh Stanton scored his first century for the school in their match on Saturday against Barnardiston.

Stanton, 11, who also plays in the under-13 Bury team and under-12 Suffolk county team, is a member of the school 1st XI and his superb innings helped secure a win for the team.

Old Buckenham won the toss, batted first and reached 181 from 30 overs with Hugh scoring 102 from 26 overs.

He was ably assisted by Josh Lecompte, who reached 50 not out, giving Old Buckenham a winning score.

Nick Drake, director of sport and first-team coach, said: “Hugh’s innings was one of patience, control and maturity.

“With six fours and with a few lusty blows at the end, he reached a well-deserved century with him retiring shortly after to allow some of the other boys a chance to bat.”
