Mildenhall Fen Tigers have announced the signing of locally-based 16-year-old Connor King ahead of the 2015 season.
King hails from Hockwold on the Suffolk/Norfolk border, where he lives with his parents, who run the New Inn public house and restaurant.
Although yet to ride competitively, he caught the eye of the Mildenhall promotion and the club moved quickly to secure his signature.
Club chairman Kevin Jolly said: “Connor is just the sort of lad we are looking to bring to Mildenhall and develop — he is very raw at the moment, but the potential is clearly there.
“He is very professional and wants a career in speedway and feels this is the place where he can progress.
“We will not rush him and will give him all the support he needs.
“It is our intention he will begin the season in the Midland Development League with the Milton Keynes Knights and I must thank their management for agreeing to this.”
He added: “Connor has good backing from his family and is local to us, so he fits the bill perfectly.
“I know he will be practising whenever possible over the winter and we look forward to introducing him to our supporters in the New Year.”
After putting pen to paper, King said: “The Fen Tigers are a great club and I am sure I can improve under the guidance of the management team there.”
He added: “I am going to try and do my best to show everyone what I can do and hopefully make the team and fans proud.”
