SSE National League Three promotion-winning coach Jack Heald has been appointed the new head coach at Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club.

Heald won promotion from Bury’s level with London Irish Amateurs before finishing third-from-bottom in National League Two South last season.

He will work alongside playing chairman Terry Sands, director of rugby Gavin Hogg and Northampton Saints Academy Coach Jon Curry, who will oversee the forwards.

Hogg said: “His experience in understanding the requirements to have a successful promotion campaign at this level will be invaluable to the club.

“Jack is a level 3 coach and has coached at the elite level of the game at Richmond and with Premiership team London Irish, as an Academy Coach, and will implement ideas and concepts from the elite level to aid the development of our playing squad.”
