Battisford and District Cricket Club’s first Cricket force clean up day has been hailed a success by one of the club’s members.

Saturday’s event was one of many across the country, sponsored by NatWest and backed by the ECB, encouraging players and supporters to help prepare the club for the new season by putting up nets, clearing ground and refurbishing facilities.

Jane Doughty, child welfare officer and social secretary at the club, said: “It was a brilliant day.

“We had at least 20 people for at least six or seven hours. The support was fabulous.

“It was a long day but we got everything that we wanted to get done finished.”

Mrs Doughty also praised members of Wattisham air base who attended the event.

“The army base has really thrown themselves into helping us,” she said. “I would like to awknowledge that they are good neighbours to us.”
