Josh Bates has set his sights on achieving a top-five finish in the final of the British Under-21 Championship.
The Mildenhall Fen Tigers’ number three will be one of four riders from the National League side to take to the track at Monmore Green — home of the Wolverhampton Wolves and Cradley Heathens — on Tuesday for this year’s showdown.
“I would like to win it, but it is going to be hard to do that as it is such a good field,” said Bates. “I have my targets and that is to finish in the top five — if I do that then I will be happy.”
At last year’s event, the 18-year-old suffered a frustrating night and suffered an exclusion and an engine failure, as well as second and third-place finishes.
