A SECOND rescue deal is about to be finalised in an attempt to safeguard the future of Mildenhall Fen Tigers speedway.
King's Lynn co-promoters Buster and Jonathan Chapman yesterday announced that they were set to sign a deal to take over their Premier League neighbours, with current Fen Tigers' promoter Simon Barton remaining at West Row as part of the new management team.
Former Mildenhall rider Richard Knight returns to replace the current Tigers' boss Laurence Rogers as Paul Lee and Henning Loof are set to make their race debuts on Sunday, when Reading Racers are the visitors (start 4.30pm).
A takeover deal involving West Country businessman Allen Trump fell through earlier this month.
The new management set up are expected to track a Mildenhall team for the 2009 seaspon, either at Conference League level or in a revamped Premier League pending the outcome of the winter annual meeting.
