Swimming: Miami breaks record

Thetford Dolphins Swimming Club hosted the second round of the Norfolk Junior League held at Waterworld in Thetford.

The Dolphins' squad, aged between nine and 12-years, competed to their very best during the night to finish in sixth place.

Miami Pearson (12) was outstanding in the 50m backstroke where she finished in first place and broke an age group club record in the fantastic time of 34.75.

Miami went on to swim the 50m fly race and finished in a fine second place with a new pb of 35.98.

A great performance was delivered by 10-year-old Taylor Dean, who won the 50m freestyle race in the excellent time of 33.38.

Taylor also had another terrific swim during the 50m fly, where he came in a superb second place in 37.01.

Connor Walsh (12) was also in fine form and he recorded fine second places for both the 100m IM (1.20.56) and 50m fly (36.29 pb).

Ten-year-old Elle Kleinau finished in a superb second place for the 50m breast, recording an impressive time of 44.41(pb) and third in 50m fly (41.38).

Elle teamed up with Miami, Victoria Root (12) and Sophie Steward (12) to swim in the 12-year 4x25m medley relay where the quartet finished in a wonderful second place.

Murray Burt (11) swam wonderfully for third places in both the 50m breast (45.05 pb) and 50m back (42.67).

Nine-year-old Grace McGill swam well to achieve fourth place in the 50m backstroke (46.31 pb).

Grace teamed up with Ruby Last (9), Emma King (9) and Emma Lloyd for a fourth place in nine-year freestyle relay.

Meanwhile, Luke Collins (9) finished in a fine fourth place for both the 25m fly (19.76 PB) and 50m free (36.22).

Luke swam in the 11-yr age group relay team where, with Murray, Taylor and Rhys Vertigans (9), they finished fourth for the medley.

The nine-year relay team of Rhys, Stuart Root, Daniel Corbyn and Thomas Cobbold finished fourth for both the 25m special relay and freestyle relay.

The 12-year team saw Connor, Taylor, Murray and Ben Jones (12) finish in fourth for both the medley relay and freestyle relay.

Others swimmers also competing: Alice Smith (10), Fiona Byford (10), Sausha Levy-Tworney (10) and Kerry Douthwaite (11).
