MILDENHALL Fen Tigers face a tough task on Sunday, when the Edinburgh Monarchs visit West Row (start 4.30pm).
The visitors have made a great start to their season with away victories at Berwick and Glasgow as well as a hard-fought draw away at King's Lynn.

Monarchs, who include American Ryan Fisher in their line-up, are expected to test their hosts who have only one victory in the season so far.

The 24-year-old turned out for Elite League's Belle Vue last year and, although this is his first visit to the Fenland track, he will be looking to impress following his drop to the Premier League.

Mathew Wethers showed his liking of the Mildenhall track, scoring 16 points in the corresponding fixture last year.

Tigers' team manager Laurence Rogers is aware that this will be a tough contest for his team.

"We are facing the in-form team of the league and it is going to be difficult," said Rogers.

Local rivals Rye House recorded an emphatic win on Sunday, defeating Mildenhall Barmy Army Fen Tigers 56-35.

The meeting was delayed due to an electrical fault in the referee's box which meant that the tapes could not be operated at the same time as the track start and safety lights.

Paul Baseby, father of Mildenhall rider Mark, eventually solved the problem, but promoter Simon Barton felt it was necessary to apologise for the delay and the subsequent interruptions.

"We do like to put on well run entertaining meetings and in most cases we achieve that. This meeting seemed to have everything go wrong and I would like to apologise.

Rye House Rockets dominated the action, Stefan Ekberg in particular showing a liking for the track.

Scores. Mildenhall Fen Tigers: Rider Replacement; Jan Graversen 4 + 1; Kaj Laukkanen 12; Henning Loof 4; Robbie Kessler 10; Matt Wright (guest) 1 +1; Jari Makinen 4.

Rye House: Chris Neath 5 +1; Joe Haines (guest) 4; Tai Woffinden 12 +2; Rider Replacement; Stefan Ekberg 17; Dan Halsey 6 +1; Robert Mear 12 +1.
