CAMBRIDGE Autograss Club were in action at their Stretham venue on Sunday, a meeting that saw Bury's Matt Ellis in action with his Citroen AX.
In a large class entry, which saw a good number of leading competitors in action, Ellis enjoyed probably his best result so far.

His first heat brought him a sixth-place result, one which was improved on during his second outing, as he secured a w
ell-deserved third.

These results secured him a place in the A final of his class, where he was destined to record a seventh position.

The next meeting at Stretham will take place on June 7.

AUTOCROSS. Last weekend's two-day autocross meeting at Braintree, was cancelled due to the arrival of travellers' caravans on the site – a first.

Let's hope the situation is rectified before the venue hosts the MSA British Championship later this year.

SHORT CIRCUIT. A large entry of Superstox competitors arrived at Foxhall Stadium at the weekend, with four local drivers among them.

They did not find it one of their happiest occasions, with both Garry Sparkes and Ben Mumford unable to complete the event.

For Sparkes, in the Felsham Garage entry, it all went wrong in the first heat as he retired with a blown engine. It was hastily changed before the final, but here he was let down with electrical failure.

Ben Mumford's meeting ended during his second heat. A spinning car was hit hard unavoidably by Mumford, who was unconscious for a short while following the incident, but was later found to be alright. Needless to say, his car was somewhat damaged.

Stanton's Matt enjoyed better fortunes, his two heats saw him record a ninth and sixth position, with the final giving him a 10th.

Jason Cooper came out as top local, the Thetford driver's heats included a retirement, but the final produced a seventh.

MOTOR RACING. The only news from the Emma Selway camp, is that the Bradfield Combust driver is still trying to obtain the necessary funding to kickstart her Formula Palmer-Audi single-seater programme for 2009.

Emma has recently been doing some promotional work in Ipswich, and is currently awaiting news from a potential sponsor.

Rated as one of the top female drivers to contest a major single-seat race car championship in the UK, it would be a great shame to see her career falter due to lack of funding.

MOTOR SPORT SHOW. Having obtained official clearance to proceed with the paperwork for the show on the Angel Hill, on July 26, we are now accepting entries from those wishing to exhibit.

Once all the costs of promoting the show have been covered, any surplus money will be donated to the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

Latest to confirm attendance, is James Harrold, who will bring the rallycross VW Beetle previously driven by the late Peter Harrold.

DIARY DATES. Short Circuit. Mildenhall Raceway, Saturday, 7pm. BriSCA F2 Stock Cars, Bangers.
Rallycross. Lydden Hill, Monday, 9.30am. Round four, MSA British Championship.
