Richard Wilkins has paid tribute to Keith Martin, the businessman and sports enthusiast, who died on Monday, following a long illness.
Mr Martin, well known across Suffolk for his passion for football and speedway, was in charge of Sudbury Wanderers before becoming the first AFC Sudbury manager when the club merged with Sudbury Town in June, 1999.

Among his many successes with the club, Martin took them to a FA Vase final at Upton Park in 2003, AFC Sudbury losing to Brigg Town.

"Keith was very successful in sport and business. His death is a sad loss to football and my condolences go to his family," said Wilkins.

The Blues team chief said Martin had offered him and Trevor Collins invaluable support in recent years, with advice and sponsorship.

"He has been a good friend at Ram Meadow and he will be sadly missed," added Wilkins.

Mr Martin, who retired from football in 2005, took part in Bury Town FC's golf day in June.
