Mildenhall Cricket Club 1st Xl entertained Frinton on Saturday.
Mildenhall were soon in trouble as Frinton's experienced bowler Greyvensteyn charged in to dismiss both Richard Cross and Fran Bester for nought.
This brought Chris Baugh to the wicket while, at the other end, Ziaf Kulasi drove upishly at Baines
and Mildenhall were on 13-3. Jimmy Watson reached five when he played on leaving Mildenhall 28-4.
Baugh was joined at the crease by Andy Squire, and the combination of experience and youth steadied the innings. Their partnership was worth 38, before Squire was out caught off the bowling of Moulton and Mildenhall were at 66-5 – just one over short of the half-way mark.
The aggressive style of captain for the day, James Holmes, at one end and Baugh's stroke play at the other, guided Mildenhall past the 100 mark.
Baugh reached his half-century while Karl Holmes, batting at eight, supported well. The duo added 56 before Barnes bowled him with the score on 180.
Andy Youngs helped push the score past 200, leaving Baugh getting the two runs he needed off the last ball of the innings to complete his century. Mildenhall closed their innings on 207-7.
Mildenhall started their defence by introducing their new South African quick bowler, Lucky Phangabantu.
The first over saw Youngs brilliantly run out Frinton opener M. Foakes before Phangabuntu struck – the seemingly belligerent Moulton giving a difficult catch to Jamie Allen fielding at mid-on.
Next, B. Foakes was out to Phangabuntu and Frannie Bester joined in as he dismissed Greyvenstein – well caught by Jimmy Watson – before clean bowling Hambrook.
Frinton were reeling on 21-5. Russ Everson fought back and, with Mildenhall having no alternative to their seam attack, he and Anderson began a recovery to pass 100.
Phangabantu was reintroduced and this had the desired effect. With Frinton on 116, Anderson was trapped lbw to Phangabantu.
A second run out saw Stubbs well short and Everson flailed on reaching 74. Squire picked up Patel's wicket and Bester wrapped up the Frinton innings by bowling Baines. Frinton were all out for 160 and Mildenhall had won by 47 runs.
Mildenhall 2nd X1 travelled to Copford for their Two Counties fixture.
Skipper Steve Lankester was soon regretting his decision to ask Copford to bat first as they raced passed 100 without loss.
E. Merry was finally out to Handy for 89 while Copford's other opener completed his century before being caught off the bowling of Chipchase.
The Copford middle order carried on with the onslaught, finishing their innings on 301-5.
Mildenhall's reply was built around Luke Turner (44) and Lankester (56), but they were still well short, closing on 206-7.
Mildenhall 3rd XI had a comfortable win over a nine-man Bury 3rd XI.
Alex Reynolds recorded a century, finishing 149no. He was accompanied by Paul Thurston (23) and Hein Muller, who clubbed his way to a century as Mildenhall totalled 309-1.
Bury struggled with the run rate despite opener Sturgeon making a half century and managed a total of 177-7, leaving Mildenhall winners by 132 runs.
A strong Mildenhall line-up took on Acton in a Hunts County Bats Division One game.
All the top order made runs in a total of 303-4. Frannie Bester top scored with 78 and Ben Shepperson made 72. Richard Cross was not out for 39.
In reply, Acton chased but the highlight of the innings for Mildenhall was a hat-trick by teenager John Van Overmeire, who finished with 3-38.
Youngster Ollie Watson picked up 3-36 as Acton closed their innings 90 runs short on 213-9.
Mildenhall's Sunday 2nd X1 took on Woolpit Academy at home and restricted them to 96 in their 40 overs.
Veteran Pete Webb picked up 3-9 and Martin Coverdale and Renu Overmeire took two wickets each.
Alex Lee picked up a half century as he and Tony Cornell (26) completed an opening partnership of 74. On Cornell's dismissal, Chris Ramsden joined Lee and they saw Mildenhall through to a nine-wicket win.
