A CRICKET-crazy family love nothing more than putting their opposition in a spin.
Lakenheath Cricket Club trio Richard Bond, 60, his son-in-law Shaun Palmer, 40, and grandson Dominic Palmer, 9, took a recent Hunts Couty Bats Suffolk Division One fixture against Great Yeldham by storm.

With the opposition chasing 229 to win, the spin wizards weaved their magic – each claiming one wicket apiece to guide their team to a commanding 70 run victory.

"It was a memorable afternoon for the family," said Richard, a former Suffolk and current county Over-60s player.

"Cricket certainly runs in the family and it is wonderful to see youngsters like Dominic coming through at such a young age and picking up a wicket."

Richard and Shaun are in their 46th and 28th year respectively for the West Suffolk club and the feat was made all the more remarkable by rookie Dominic, who was making his debut for the senior side.

"I love cricket and play it all of the time," he said.

"I couldn't believe it when I took a wicket in my first game because I really like batting as well. My favourite cricketer is England batsman Kevin Pietersen."

Shaun, who lives with his wife Lesley and son in Tuddenham, is also a former Suffolk player.

"We are quite a sporty family and cricket is one of our favourites," he said.

"Richard was a great player in his prime and we are hoping Dominic will go on to be as successful."
