THE funky beats of Tom Baxter and his band provided the perfect warm-up for the audience waiting for Scottish pop-rocker KT Tunstall.
Bursting on to the brightly-lit stage and singing the praises of Norfolk, KT and her band set-about delivering a rollercoaster performance of mixed tempo and emotion.
With an unparalleled voice, which is capable of effortlessly switching between delicate and perfectly-pitched notes and pure soul-filled raunch, KT fused popular classics from her first album Eye to the Telescope with less well-known tracks from her latest offering Drastic Fantastic.
Highlights of the show included Black Horse and the Cherry Tree, the punchy Hold On and the hauntingly beautiful Universe and You, which made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up.
KT was certainly at home in her leafy surroundings – encouraging the audience to hum a solitary note in the hopes of communicating with the trees – and vowing to return, which the audience must hope is a promise she keeps.
