ABOUT 150 ‘yummy mummies’ made the roller skating venue CurveMotion’s first charity event a success.

The Yummy Mummy Disco last Thursday raised £1,009 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer and spokeswoman Sarah Stamp said: “We expected to raise about £800 but people were really generous.”

The venue on Bury St Edmunds’ Lark Valley Business Park opened in April and plans three charity events a year.

CurveMotion was asked by fund raiser Laura Hudson, who lost her father to cancer, if they would support her efforts.

“We were delighted to get involved,” said Sarah. “It felt like the right cause for our first event.”

Staff gave their time free and extra cash was raised with a raffle and sale of pink cakes.

The next fund raiser will be a skating marathon for St Nicholas Hospice on September 11. Details will be at www.curvemotion.com
