A brand new venture aimed at encouraging people to swap rather than dump unwanted items is being launched in Bury St Edmunds tomorrow.
The first Swap Shop will be held by Sustainable Bury at The St John’s Centre in St John’s Street between 10am and 12pm.
It is a way for people to dispose of unwanted Christmas presents and other goods as they clear out for the new year.
People can bring along an item and exchange it for another at the ‘shop’ and any left over goods will be donated to charities.
Karen Cannard, recycling champion and a member of Sustainable Bury, said: “I’ve been along to similar events in Suffolk and it’s great to see Bury now hosting its own. Not only are Swap Shops an easy way of re-using items that otherwise would go to waste, but they’re also fun and highlight the idea that one person’s trash is another’s treasure.”
Large items can be left at 9am tomorrow.
