I feel I have to reply to the letter from Chris Cooke in reference to the felling of trees in Nowton Park (Bury Free press, May 11).
I feel it is always very easy to make negative comments about things, but actually in this instance the council, in conjunction with Nowton Park, has been very selective in its felling of trees taking away any rogue or old dangerous trees that could fall and cause injury to people. Also, as Plovers Way residents we have been in the shade and endured very dark and damp gardens for many years because of these trees. The council and Nowton Park have done an excellent job in giving us light back in our gardens and also making it a safer park for all. I feel they should be commended for their excellent work.
