IN January, a headline article in a daily newspaper stated that a damning report found many of today’s NHS staff lacked ability, compassion and even the desire to work in the profession.
As a volunteer working in the West Suffolk Foundation Trust Hospital Eye Treatment Centre, I would like to assure local patients that, from my experience, this description does not apply at West Suffolk Hospital.
I regularly observe at this clinic a high degree of competence and compassion for the attending patients. I have been very happy to be a volunteer and work in such a caring environment.
Local patients need not be concerned for their welfare.
