Generosity has helped to raise £1,700

Have your say

I WOULD like to thank everyone who helped make the Mayor’s New Year’s Eve Charity Ball, held at the Apex, Bury St Edmunds, such an outstanding event.

The evening was a tremendous success, thoroughly enjoyed by all and, together with donations, raised £1,700 for my chosen charities for the year, which include the local branches of the Citizens Advice Bureau and St John Ambulance Suffolk.

My sincere thanks go to all the businesses and individuals who generously gave prizes for the charity raffle or cash donations.

It was heartening to know that local people are still supporting local charities in these difficult financial times, which demonstrates yet again, what a special town we live in.

May I also take this opportunity to thank the Bury Free Press for its support throughout the year?

A very happy new year to everyone.

Cllr Christopher Spicer,

Mayor of St Edmundsbury.
