Young people are recognised for service

STUDENTS who have put ‘service before self’ have been recognised at the annual Bury St Edmunds Rotary Club School Awards.

Seven young people received books to help them with further studies after being recognised as putting the Rotary motto into practice in their lives.

They were presented with the awards recently at St Edmundsbury Cathedral.

The winners were Lauren Bailey, St Benedict’s Upper School, Victoria Brown, Thurston Community College, Lucy and Poppy Kearney, from Culford School, James Taylor, from King Edward V1 School, Rebecca Littlechild, from County Upper School, and Yasmin Frost ,from West Suffolk College.

James Baker, president, said: “‘It is a great privilege for me and members of the club to be associated with the very talented and caring students who are present on this prestigious evening.”
