Young musicians to play Apex

SOME of West Suffolk’s best young musicians will be showcasing their talents at The Apex on Monday, July 9, in the West Suffolk Young Musician Finalists’ Concert.

Young vocalists, pianists, string, woodwind and brass players will be performing a wide variety of music before a team of judges as they vie for the title of West Suffolk Young Musician 2012.

Last year’s winner, 14-year-old Harry Greene, will be performing a short jazz set during the concert,, playing alto sax and guitar.

Since winning the competition, Harry has gained a place on the Aldeburgh Young Musician’s Programme.

Neil Carlson, chairman of WSYM, said: “This is the competition’s first year in The Apex, where the competitors will have the opportunity to experience its truly special acoustics.

“I am confident that appearing on stage as soloists will be a memorable landmark in their musical development.”
