The chairman of Wyverstone Parish Council has appeared before a judge accused of four firearms offences.

James Arnold, 49, appeared today at Ipswich Crown Court via a video link from HMP Belmarsh in south London where he is currently being held.

Arnold, of Potash Road, Wyverstone is charged with four offences of possession of a prohibited weapon.

The court heard that Arnold, who was arrested at Wyverstone on March 27, was not indicating a plea to any of the alleged offences at this stage.

Judge John Holt told Arnold that he would be required to reappear before the court on July 25 for a plea and case management hearing.

Arnold will remain remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
