A group of ex-Army servicewomen who served in the now-disbanded Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC) have raised more than £8,000 for charity.

The WRAC Lionesses, who include Wendy Hooton, Nell Frary and Dawn McKender from Bury St Edmunds, raised the cash for the WRAC Association and Cancer Research UK by taking part in the Gateshead 10K run as well as various other fund-raising activities.

On Saturday, August 15, the Lionesses helped a charity collection at the arc in Bury St Edmunds, raising £643

Wendy said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to the people of Bury St Edmunds and the visitors for their generous donations to our charity collection.”
