A woman was taken to hospital with suspected life-threatening injuries after a three vehicle crash on the A134 yesterday.
The accident happened at about 3.08pm, two miles north of Alpheton, towards Bury St Edmunds.
It involved a silver Vauxhall Insignia and two grey Vauxhall Golfs.
A woman in her 30s, the driver of one of the Golfs, received serious head injuries and was taken by ambulance to Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge, with an air escort.
Her injuries were suspected to be life-threatening but an update last night revealed this was no longer considered to be the case.
A second person was taken to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury, with non-life threatening injuries.
Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and the Essex Air Ambulance attended the incident, as well as three fire crews, two from Sudbury and one from Long Melford.
The road was closed and diversions put in place until around 8.23pm.
