MEMBERS of the West Suffolk Wheelers and Triathlon Club set off on a gruelling 90km ride today - to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the club.
At 9am more than 40 riders set off on the 56 mile cycle around Suffolk, a second group set off on a shorter 40km (25 mile) ride at 10am.
Each rider paid £5 to take part with all money donated going to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
A big party is planned in the afternoon where past and present members of the club can have some tea and cake and catch up.
Club Vice-President Neville Pettitt said the club was a great way of creating a team atmosphere out of a traditionally individual sport.
He said: “The club is a focal point in the area for cycling - from seasoned riders to children with stabilisers.
“We cover all aspects of the sport from road and track races to mountain bike riding.
“The fact that we can all get together and ride out makes this club very much like a big family.
“It is important as cycling can be a very individual sport, the club really brings everyone together.”
