Bosses at West Suffolk Hospital are celebrating after securing two prestigious accolades.
West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s board has been named ‘NHS board of the year’, a regional title recognising its effective leadership, commitment to high quality care and engagement with staff, patients and the community.
Its consistently good performance, including meeting every cancer target, recording low mortality rates and ranking among the best in the country for stroke care and hip fracture treatment, was also commended.
The trust will now represent the region at the national awards on March 8, 2016.
Meanwhile, the hospital’s catering department has been re-awarded an international accreditation recognising the high standards of hygiene, production, safety and service it provides to patients and visitors.
The ISO 9001 -2008 standard given by the LRQA comes as the hospital launches a new menu to increase the choice available to patients, with dishes designed for diabetics, those who have difficulty eating and those needing more calories or protein.
