West Suffolk College is launching a new course offering students the first step towards becoming qualified and professional make-up artists.
The Level 2 course, which starts in September, offers a practical, fast paced and creative programme and is open to all students aged 16 and over.
Alison Sterne, head of beauty, said: “This new course has been launched in response to the growing demand for qualified make-up artists for film and TV.
“With the popularity of Strictly Come Dancing and Dr Who for instance, and the boost to the film industry with Stars Wars and Harry Potter both being filmed at Pinewood studios in London, there is excellent career potential for qualified make-up artists.
“It is an exciting and dynamic course, which will offer students a firm foundation in the industry and offer the natural next step onto the Level 3 course.”
Each student will be required to compete at a national level in industry competitions and gain employability skills through placements at theatres and media organisations in the area.
