MORE than 70 brides-to-be took to the Bury Free Press Wedding Show on Sunday to make sure their special day was the event of a lifetime.

Set in the elegant surroundings of Ickworth House’s West Wing, the show saw free bridal consultations and a variety of exhibitors on show.

Mark Stanford, events manager for the Bury Free Press, said the show had exceeded all expectations.

“It was a fantastic event. To have 70 brides was more than we expected and it has whet our appetite for our next wedding show here on March 3, which we are sure will be just as successful,” he said.

Brides were spoilt for choice when it came to guidance, with exhibitors including Clare Bridal Studios, Brooks Vintage Cars, Amazing Cakes, Brides-All and Debenhams on hand.

A string of prizes were also handed out during the event.

Hannah Penfold, from Bury, picked up a Palmers Wedding make-up and consultation worth £350.

A host more prizes were dished out, including cosmetics and a lunch at the West Wing.

All brides were given goody bags, with the first 20 through the door being handed a special bag courtesy of Boots.
