A VILLAGE vicar who has served the community for 21 years was given a farewell send off when he moved away.
The Rev David Mathers left St Peter’s, Thurston to move to the parish of Laughton in East Sussex where he will continue his ministry on a part-time basis.
He and his wife Lynda were paid tribute to at a farewell party at Cavendish Hall last Friday and presented with a picture of the parish church.
Their interest in all aspects of village life had made them very much a part of village life.
A final service on Sunday was attended by 200 people.
