VARIETY was the key to success for a village that raised more than £1,000 during a day of fund-raising for military charities.

On July 23, people visited Badwell Ash to enjoy a whole host of activities, then at night a village disco was held to help boost funds.

A display by airmen from RAF Mildenhall created a lot of excitement, demonstrating how their dogs are trained to attack.

A majorettes performance and a Kuk Sool Wong display added to the spectacle, as well as a static motorbike show, hovercraft and pony rides and a late fly-past by a Sea King helicopter from Wattisham Airfield.

“The whole day was just so great, I can’t thank people enough. And we were so proud of how the teenagers behaved at the disco,” said organiser Helen Flack.

A total of £1,138 was raised for Help for Heroes, the Royal British Legion and Scottys Little Soldiers.
