Two people were taken to hospital with suspected neck injuries yesterday after a two-vehicle collision on the A143 at Wattisfield.
A police spokeswoman said they were called by a member of the public shortly before 10.45am.
She said a grey Range Rover and a silver Ford Focus had been involved in a crash on the A143 between the Townhouse Lane and Calkewood Lane junctions.
Two people were trapped and firefighters from Elmswell, Ixworth and Bury St Edmunds were sent to help free them at around 11.10am.
They used hydraulic gear to remove the roof of one of the cars.
The East of England Ambulance Service Trust was called at around 10.50am.
Two ambulances and an ambulance officer attended and treated both of the drivers for suspected neck injuries.
They were both taken to West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, for further care.
The road remained blocked until around 12.50pm.
