Travellers who have pitched up on Ram Meadow car park, in Bury St Edmunds, are due to be moved on due to an injunction covering the site.

They arrived at the car park at 3pm yesterday and have been told by St Edmundsbury Borough Council that the site is subject to a pre-emptive injunction from the High Court which prevents travellers from illegally camping on a number of locations around the town.

The travellers were due to be served with a legal notice at 11am today outlining the injunction.

A spokeswoman said that if the travellers fail to move on their vehicles could be seized.

The authority obtained pre-emptive injunctions from the High Court last November to stop travellers from pitching up on council-owned town centre car parks and Moreton Hall open spaces.
