A SCHOOL has been left with lengthy repairs after a listed wall was destroyed by a coach.
On Monday morning, staff at Thetford Grammar School arrived at the school to find that a wall and gates off Bridge Street had been hit by a National Express coach.
The incident took place at around 1.30am with fire crews and police having to assist seven passengers off the coach.
No-one was injured in the incident.
Phil McGahan, school bursar, said repairing the 18ft hole would not be simple due to the Victorian wall’s age.
“It’s not just a case of putting some bricks up – it’s going to take time and it’s going to be a very big job,” he said.
As the wall is listed, Breckland Council officials will have to approve any repair works.
