THREE people were taken to hospital following a serious collision involving three cars in a village on Wednesday.

The incident at about 4.40pm on the A1120 at Forward Green, Earl Stonham, was between a BMW estate, a blue Vauxhall Astra and white Vauxhall van.

The BMW was travelling in the direction away from Stowmarket when it was involved in the collision with the white van and Astra.

The drivers of the van and Astra were taken to Ipswich Hospital with the driver of the Astra suffering a cracked sternum.

The BMW driver was taken to West Suffolk Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed and a diversion set up while the drivers were recovered and debris cleared.

The fire and ambulance service also attended.

Firefighters had to cut one of the drivers free from their car.

The air ambulance was initially called to the scene but was not required.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision.
