Traders ask you to ‘Love Your Market’

TRADERS at Bury St Edmunds market and St Edmundsbury Borough Council are inviting people to come and love their market.

Love Your Market Day will be held on June 30 to coincide with the town’s homecoming parade for II Squadron RAF Regiment.

Events are being planned to showcase the quality and variety of products sold on the market.

Stall-holder Darren Old has created a three-course menu recipe card made from produce that can be purchased from the market. He will be handing out cards and traders will be offering a 10 per cent discount on the ingredients listed.

“It’s a day to promote the variety of produce and products Bury St Edmunds market has to offer and show that you can do a lot of your weekly shopping on the market,” said Darren.

“There will be activities for all the family and we want everyone from Bury and the surrounding areas to get involved.”

The market’s goods will also be displayed in a cook-off by chefs from Abbeygate Street Spanish restaurant La Tasca.

For £10 St Edmundsbury Borough Council will be allowing people who have been running a small business for less than a year to have a go at trading on the market – with the best stall of the day winning a prize.

Market traders hope to create a celebratory atmosphere for the day and will be hanging bunting and organising fmusicians to play around the market as well as donating prizes for a raffle..
