THIS year will mark the third St Edmund’s Day Award celebrations for Citzen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year, in Bury St Edmunds.
Bury Town Council is calling on people to nominate local residents who they consider to be worthy of the titles, people over 18 who have made an outstanding contribution to the community and out-standing individuals under 18.
“Think about those in the voluntary sector, or even people in employment doing exceptional work for the town,” said Cllr Stefan Oliver, chairman of the St Edmund’s Day committee.
“There are two reasons for doing this,” he explained, “to promote awareness of Saint Edmund and to acknowledge the good work that people have done.”
The closing date for nominations is October 14.
Application forms are available from the Town Council’s offices on Angel Hill and will be available from the Bury Free Press reception, in King’s Road, from Monday.
A presentation will be made to nominees on November 15, during which the winners of last month’s Allotments Competition will also be announced.
