STOWMARKET hosted its biggest ever Christmas lights switch on last Friday, welcoming crowds of people to the town to have some festive fun.
The town buzzed with activity as families enjoyed street entertainment, stalls, rides and live music.
James Redmond, comedian and former actor, well-known for his roles in Hollyoaks and Casualty, took the important job of switching on the town Christmas lights.
He is a familiar face in the town after MCing at a stand-up comedy night at the Regal Theatre earlier this year.
Mark Strachan, Stowmarket town centre manager, said the event went well.
“It went off really well, we’re really pleased with the various acts we had, particularly the Ipswich Community Gospel Choir. We had well over a thousand people turn out despite the polar conditions,” he said.
There was also music from Dumbfoundus, the Ipswich Youth Steel Band, Ipswich Concert Band, Dave Collins and local schools.
