TRAINERS at RAF Honington have been working with a major contingent of the Tongan Army who have signed up to support the ISAF presence in Afghanistan.

Some 60 soldiers have been receiving instruction from the RAF Regiment’s Force Protection experts since October and are part of 220 troops being trained by the RAF for deploy-

ment to Afghanistan where they will be under the RAF Regiment’s Force Protec-tion Wing at Camp Bastion.

During their training the troops also performed the Tongan equivalent of the New Zealand Haka the Sipi tau, a ritual showing that they are confident fighting the enemy.
