People are being urged to vote for their local sporting hero in the St Edmundsbury Sports Awards public vote for the People’s Champion 2013.

The winner of the People’s Champion will be presented with an award at a glittering awards ceremony which is being held at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds on Friday, September 27 and will also receive a certificate and £50.

To vote, text the number of the nominee listed in this week’s Bury Free Press and Haverhill Echo, to 07983 641196 before midnight on Tuesday, September 24.

Texts will be charged at your usual rate as determined by your phone provider.

1) Tom Huggins (Bury St Edmunds Cricket Club)

Scored 100 centuries and 5,000 runs for the club in his career

2) Alan Macpherson (ultraman)

First Brit to conquer all three ultraman championships, breaking the 30-hour-barrier

3) Harry Hughes (javelin)

Ranked as the number one under-17 javelin thrower in the country and second of all-time

4) Georgina Allen (football)
