A COUNCILLOR with 50 years of serving Thetford has been sworn in as mayor for the third time.
Terry Lamb was unveiled as the town’s new mayor on Tuesday, taking over from fellow stalwart Derek Mortimer.
Cllr Lamb said his watchword would be to provide ‘quantity – but only if it is of quality’.
He was welcomed into the post by fellow councillors, including his predecessor, who also reflected on his own time as mayor.
Cllr Mortimer said: “This position has been in some cases difficult but of course everything has an upside and I have enjoyed a great run of civic duties in and around the town.”
Cllr Mortimer was installed as Cllr Lamb’s deputy for the coming year, taking over from Pauline Quadling.
The mayor-making ceremony was followed by the annual town meeting, attended by around 30 residents.
