Three people have been taken to hospital following a five vehicle road traffic collision in Brockford near Stowmarket this morning.

The East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust (EEAST) received a 999 call at 11.19am reporting a collision on the A140 Norwich Road at the junction with Mendlesham.

Two ambulances, a rapid response vehicle and two paramedic officers were sent to the scene.

Fire crews from Eye, Stowmarket and Diss were also mobilised and used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of a blue Mitsubishi.

A police spokeswoman said the other cars involved in the incident were two silver Fords, a black Ford and a white panel van.

A spokesperson for EEAST said: “Ambulance crews assessed and treated three people in total before taking them to hospital.

“A woman, believed to be in her 50s, suffered a neck injury and was not fully conscious.

“A second female casualty, believed to be in her late teens, was suffering from back pain.

“A man, of unknown age, was also assessed, and was suffering from chest pain.

“All three casualties were taken by ambulance to Ipswich Hospital for further assessment and treatment. Fortunately none of the casualties were believed to be suffering from critical injuries.”
