Children from Ickworth Park Primary School strode out into the countryside at Ickworth on Saturday inspired by this year’s Suffolk Walking Festival.
The three mile course through woodland and across countryside was monitored with pedometers organised by Daniela Elstone from the Ickworth Hotel.
The school has a partnership with the hotel and as well as growing their own vegetables also supples the hotel kitchens during the summer holidays.
Children are also working towards the gold award for the Food for Life scheme having already received their silver award in December.
Jayne Cook, who is responsible for the school’s food and gardening curriculum said: “The children had a wonderful time . It was so nice to see them having a really good time outside a school context. Several of them were fascinated by the concept of the pedometers and were hoping to buy one for themselves.”
